BERNINA Creative CenterThe Key to Creativity The new Creative Center in BERNINA’s hometown of Steckborn is a place where all enthusiasts can discover the multiplicity of the world of sewing. “The Creative Center is a training centre, but also a place where like-minded people can meet up and exchange ideas”, explains the owner of BERNINA International AG, Hanspeter Ueltschi. “We want to give fresh impetus here and impart creative sewing and embroidery techniques, but also show the tremendous creative potential sewing enthusiasts can tap in themselves by using our products.” Core elements of the BERNINA Creative Centre, which is located in a former sewing-machine assembly hangar, are the training rooms and the display islands on various themes from the creative areas of fashion, accessories and decoration. Workshops, seminars and training sessions in sewing, embroidering and quilting techniques are given here at regular intervals by professional course leaders. Exhibit visitors can examine and try out all the machines and new techniques up close at the demonstration counters. “We want to appeal to as many people as possible, and fire them with enthusiasm for sewing as a hobby. The idea is for sewing professionals to have the chance here to deepen their knowledge, whilst beginners are given an easy leg-up into the world of sewing and embroidery” stresses Hanspeter Ueltschi. Almost half of the over-500 m2 of the Creative Center is available for course rooms. In three training rooms there is space at sewing tables for around 75 people. Variable walls allow the rooms to be reduced or enlarged as desired. Cutting-out tables and a multi-media wall with projector round out the facilities of the training rooms. The BERNINA Creative Center also boasts a small coffee lounge, a library with specialist literature and fashion magazines, and a software corner in which embroidery and pattern software is introduced and explained to visitors. The training centre can be booked as an event venue by BERNINA partners, dealers, and quilting and sewing professionals, as well as schools, other organisations, and companies. Opening hours for visitors: Tuesday to Friday, from 10.00-12.00 and 14.00-16.00
