«I love the freedom that my BERNINA gives me to enhance my hand applique with many and varied quilting designs.»
Merelyn started quilting 22 years ago, making a creative transition from pottery to fabric. She soon discovered her passion lay in hand applique, and in 2000 began a series of quilts celebrating the work of Australian artist Margaret Preston. This collection took a decade of creativity, each quilt taking years to complete. The process of quilting these six masterpieces was greatly enhanced by use of her Bernina machines. The sensitivity of tension adjustment on the machines made it easy for her to experiment with different threads and gain satisfying results.
