Amanda Murphy

«I have ALWAYS wanted a BERNINA. Favorite features?
Well, obviously I love the exceptional stitch quality and
the BERNINA Stitch Regulator gives me the courage to try things
that I wouldn’t have otherwise.»

More About Amanda

Amanda has sewn as long as she can remember, though not always well and certainly not according to any rules. The first project that she can remember was a tree skirt with angels on it. “I put makeup on the angel’s faces! (Did that make it an art quilt?) I also made my mom a 100% polyester pink lace dress that she actually wore, although she recently confessed only once.”

Amanda uses a variety of BERNINA specialty feet in her current creative endeavors. Amanda’s favorite BERNINA feet include: Open Embroidery Foot # 20, the small, open-toe foot for use on appliqué projects, Patchwork Foot with Guide # 57 for seaming, Piping Foot # 38 to attach trim, Button Sew-on Foot # 18 to attach yo-yos, Free-motion Couching Foot # 43 for decorative work, and of course, Walking Foot # 50.

Amanda encourages budding sewers, pattern makers, and artists of all types to do what they really love. Find an original style and stick with it. Send designs to magazines and keep creating, even offering free patterns to create interest. Most importantly, be persistent and don’t give up! Sometimes things happen when you least expect it.
