Lucy has been sewing since she was 4, and made her first quilt at 11 years old. Since then, she has rarely been without a sewing project, although now most of her time is spent making art quilts for exhibitions in Australia and overseas. She also paints and prints, but she prefers the freedom she gets from working with textiles (and the chance to indulge her fabric obsession).
Lucy did not start making and exhibiting art quilts until 2012. Since then, she has won numerous awards for her original designs. She uses art quilting to tell the story of her life as a Navy wife and mother – her quilts use subtle colours and high attention to detail to draw you in. She is currently working on a large scale quilt commemorating the Anzac Centenary in 2015.
Working with her BERNINA allows her to take her sewing to another level; “I demand a lot from my machine, and require a very high standard from my work. It would be almost impossible to achieve this without my BERNINA - I am able to rely on it for consistently good results.”
