Instructions

Corded piping

  1. Place cord in the fold (center line) on the wrong side of the fabric 3 bias strip.
  2. Fold one strip half over cord lengthwise, wrong sides facing. Then sew together with long straight stitches, using presser foot no. 12C and the needle in the far right position.

Front
  1. Pleat skirt front at fold according to pattern sheet.
  2. Sew top front to skirt front with right sides facing, using the bulky overlock foot no. 12C and sewing in a sufficiently long piece of piping at the same time (needle position at 2-3 notches to the right).
  3. Sew the front decorative strip to the bottom edge of the skirt front.
  4. Sew the front hem facing to the bottom edge of the decorative strip.

Back

Sew the fabric 3 decorative strip and the fabric 2 facing to the fabric 1 back as described for the front.

Construction
  1. Place front sections on back sections, right sides facing. Sew right side seam.
  2. Neaten the seam allowances.
  3. Sew a decorative stitch line (stitch no. 371) a few millimeters away from the fabric 3 strip, using the open embroidery foot no. 20C.

Completing the trousers
  1. Sew front and back facings together right side on right side at the appropriate side.
  2. Neaten the bottom edge.
  3. Pin piping right sides facing to neckline.
  4. With right sides facing, place facing on neckline. Sew together, using the bulky overlock foot no. 12C and catching all layers (needle position at 2-3 notches to the right). Since the parts of the dress are very small, we recommend to baste all layers before sewing them together. It might even be necessary to handsew the very small parts or the narrow curves (e.g. the flaps for the closure).
  5. Trim/notch the seam allowances. Turn right side out.
  6. Fold the seam allowances at the zipper to the inside and secure with a few slip stitches by hand.
  7. Cover the buttons in fabric following the instructions in the package. Sew buttons to the front.
  8. Make fitting buttonholes on the back.
  9. Sew satin ribbon onto pink front strip by hand.
  10. Fold hem under 0.5 cm twice. Hem, using the edgestitch foot no. 10C.
