This year, there were 2500 plus visitors, to the show over 3 days. 205 quilts were displayed and mixed media entrants, in the Bernina Exhibition Hall, also along with 44 Merchants.
Comments from visitors to the show were that they were “impressed with the more diverse display of quilt styles and colour” The Judges also commented that they loved the diverse range and skill of entries displayed. “Diversity is always fabulous, and what we all look for and strive to achieve in our endeavours”. said Judi Schon, Convenor.
This year an exhibitions from Hoffman Challenge, Aotearoa “Growth” Challenge, was displayed, sponsored by Bernina NZ, Modern Quilts thanks to Robyn Burgess and garments by Mayhia Howells that were all made from hand dyed, recycled materials, woven using traditional Maori weaving techniques.
"Simply stunning!" That was the feedback from Bernina NZ's Julie Veck on this winning entry. Alison Laurence, the winner of the Best in Show award, was presented with a Bernina 350PE Sewing Machine from Bernina NZ, primary sponsor of the show. Alison is obviously an incredibly talented quilter and an inspiration to sewers and crafters.
