FIBRE ARTS NEW ZEALAND 2016
Fibre Arts New Zealand began its life in Nelson in support of Australian designers who were attending the World of Wearable Arts event. Glenys Mann who runs Fibre Arts Australia decided to expand and offer workshops in New Zealand and when WOW relocated to Wellington she transferred to Whitireia Polytechnic at their Lindale campus to run workshops by international tutors.
Unfortunately due to the rapid growth of her business in Australia, Glenys was unable to continue her operation in New Zealand and apart from a one-off non-residential retreat at Wellington Girls College the event was reconstructed as a week-long residential retreat with workshops by International tutors and relocated to Whanganui.
This is the fifth year that the Fibre Arts event will be held in Whanganui at the Whanganui Girls College and the boarding hostel Ad Astra. There are six international tutors from Australia, USA and Belgium and 73 participants who come from all over New Zealand.
Next year 2017, there will be seven workshops with tutors from United Kingdom, Canada, South Africa, Australia and New Zealand. Registrations for next year’s event will be open from Thursday 21st April on our website www.fibreartsnz.com
Fibre Arts New Zealand is grateful for the sponsorship of Bernina New Zealand and their support in promoting Fibre Arts and Artists.
