Here’s an easy project to make for yourself or as a gift for someone else. Use the secret pouch in the pillow to store your diary, a bedtime book, some lavender or even a private chocolate!
Seam allowances are 1/2" unless otherwise noted.

Cut two 15" squares of fabric for pillow and two 9" x 13" rectangles of fabric for secret pocket.

Along one short edge of one secret pocket rectangle, mark 1/2" from the top and bottom edges. Repeat for second rectangle.

With right sides together, center one secret pocket rectangle along the top edge of one pillow square, matching raw edges. Sew between marks made on secret pocket only. Repeat for second set of pieces.

Open out secret pocket rectangles. Press seam allowances toward pillow. With right sides together, match the raw edges of the secret pocket rectangles. Sew the three open sides of rectangle, making sure to keep main pillow material free of the stitching.

With right sides together, match raw edges of pillow squares. Sew along edges starting at the end of the secret pocket stitches, stitching around the pillow, and ending at the beginning of the secret pocket titches. DO NOT SEW OVER THE SECRET POCKET OPENING! Leave a 3–4” opening along one side
of the pillow for turning.

Clip the corners of the pillow and turn it right side out.

Center a 6½” to 7” strip of iron-on Velcro® on each fi nished edge of the secret pocket. Iron following
manufacturer’s directions.

Place a journal or book inside the secret pocket. This will help make sure you have adequate room for
your treasures after stuffing.

Fill pillow with fi berfi ll to desired firmness. Be sure to place fi berfi ll in front of and behind secret pocket
so that the fl uffi ness “hides” the compartment.

Using a hand-sewing needle and coordinating thread, slip stitch the opening closed.
