Picture: Smart Piecing 101 with Kaye England

Join Kaye England at the BERNINA Creative Center in this class focusing on design elements, utilizing precision cutting with Good Measure Rulers and precision piecing.

Dates: December 11–13th, 2018
Fee: $449

Kaye will show you a wide variety of techniques and tips that allow you to ‘read’ traditional quilt patterns but translate them to an easier piecing method. It is recommended to bring fabrics to ‘play’ with, but Kaye will give you ideas to use the sample blocks in a project. While the class will have specific goals and sessions, there will be time for Kaye to assist you in quilt planinng and, of course, any questions regarding patchwork. While a specific quilt pattern is not required, patterns will be provided.

The class is broken down into the following sessions:
  • Session 1: Overview of block break down, ruler calculations vs traditional calculations, thread, needles and product for successful patchwork
  • Session 2: Basic Tool tutorial – half square and quarter square triangles, spikey blocks and more
  • Session 3: Degreed work - play with 5 degree rulers for fabulous blocks
  • Session 4: Building your own notebook of block elements for zillions of design choices
  • Session 5: Setting options, borders and more
