Participants will sew quilt blocks that will be assembled into quilts and donated

BERNINA of America, the world’s premier manufacturer of sewing, quilting and embroidery machines, is pleased to announce that it will host a free quilt making event at the Renegade Craft Fair to benefit Rush-Copley cancer patients. Participants will create quilt blocks, which are small squares of fabric that will later be assembled into quilts and donated to the breast health division at Rush-Copley Healthcare Center in Aurora. Following the event, BERNINA of America employees will assemble the blocks into quilts at the company’s headquarters, also located in Aurora. BERNINA will provide 10 machines at the Renegade Craft Fair, along with all materials and instruction. Five of the machines will be the new bernette Sew Pink, which isn’t available in stores yet.
The Renegade Craft Fair will take place on Saturday, September 6 and Sunday, September 7 from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. The street fair will be located along Division Street between Damen and Paulina avenues in Chicago’s Wicker Park neighborhood. BERNINA will be in booth #73.
“We are supporting Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October with an effort that will benefit Rush-Copley patients from the greater Fox Valley community,” said Paul Ashworth, President of BERNINA of America. “We hope the quilts will bring some comfort to patients who are  undergoing medical treatment.”
The bernette Sew Pink, available soon at select BERNINA Dealers, is a limited-edition pink bernette sewing machine. For each machine sold, BERNINA will donate $20 to the national Breast Cancer Research Foundation.
The Renegade Craft Fair is one of the largest curated gatherings of indie craft makers in the U.S., attendees will find a variety of handmade goods, ranging from one-of-a-kind jewelry, stationery, clothing and accessories, to leather goods, art prints and housewares.
