Events will take place at Four Points by Sheraton Meriden

BERNINA of America, the world’s premier manufacturer of sewing, embroidery and quilting machines, is pleased to announce that Close to Home, a BERNINA Dealer with three locations in Connecticut, is hosting four different sewing, quilting and embroidery classes with BERNINA Educator Deb Cacciamani on Friday, September 26 and Saturday, September 27. The classes will run from 9:00 a.m. to noon and from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. both days, and will take place at the Four Points by Sheraton Meriden, located at 275 Research Parkway. Each class costs $69, or $199 for all four classes, and includes the use of BERNINA 780 (B 780) machines, project kits, hourly prize giveaways, a goodie bag, and lunch. Participants will also have the option of buying the B 780 they use or any other machine on display at Close to Home. In addition, Close to Home is hosting an Anita Goodesign Embroidery Event from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on September 26 and September 27. Each event costs $99. Attendees will learn the latest embroidery techniques and have an opportunity to sample various embroidery applications, from applique to lace to sewing on fleece, and much more.

  • “Mini Zen Wall Hanging,” 9:00 a.m. – noon, September 26. Create mini quilts using a BERNINA hoop, the BERNINA Stitch Regulator, and the BERNINA Circular embroidery attachment #83.
  • “Fly Away Patched Pillow,” 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., September 26. Explore the creative features of the B 780, including embroidery, stitches and the BERNINA Dual Feed System.
  • “Free Motion Frenzy,” 9:00 a.m. to noon, September 27. Learn to free motion sew with the BERNINA Stitch Regulator through quilting, thread painting and raw edge applique.
  • “A Piece of Art,” 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., September 27. Create a piece of quilting art using the BERNINA Stitch Regulator and BERNINA Dual Feed System.
