BERNINA DEALER ONCE UPON A QUILT TO HOST SEWAPALOOZA WITH A TWIST THURSDAY MAY 1– SATURDAY MAY 3 AT OLD DAVIE SCHOOLHOUSE HISTORICAL MUSEUM IN DAVIE FLORIDA

BERNINA of America, the premier manufacturer of sewing, embroidery and quilting machines, is pleased to announce that Once Upon a Quilt, a BERNINA Dealer in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., is hosting Sewapalooza With a Twist, a sewing festival where enthusiasts will gather to sew, learn new techniques and be inspired by sewing experts.  The event will feature BERNINA Educator, Betsy Carlson and Once Upon a Quilt Educator, Janine Babich.  The events will take place from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. each day at the Old Davie Schoolhouse Historical Museum located at 6650 Griffin Road, Davie, Fla.  Event-goers can choose to join the festivities May 2 – 3 by registering for Option 1, which includes 6 projects and costs $150 or Option 2, from May 1 – 3, for $225 for 7 projects.  In addition to the projects, the event fees include a Sewapalooza Festival Package complete with kits, project supplies, use of BERNINA sewing machines, lunch and refreshments throughout the day.  To register, call (954)987-8827 or stop by Once Upon a Quilt located at 3404 Griffin Road, Ft. A BERNINA Educator and BERNINA owner for 20 years, Betsy Carlson, from Grand Rapids, Mich. began sewing in junior high school, when she made her first project, a zippered turtle pillow for pajamas.  After that there was no turning back.  She was hooked.  Years later, after her career in public relations and being a stay-at-home Mom, Betsy started her own business, Nine Patch Sewing Company, and held the president title for the West Michigan Quilters’ Guild.  As a BERNINA educator, Betsy enjoys visiting the BERNINA Creative Center in Aurora, Ill., where she continues to learn more about how to use BERNINA machines, accessories and software.  When Betsy’s not sewing or training, she can be found using power tools like a tile saw or chop saw she’s used in remodeling her home.
