BERNINA OF AMERICA TO PROVIDE 50 SEWING MACHINES AND SPONSOR TWO QUILTING CLASSES AT SEWTOPIA IN CHICAGO APRIL 16 – 19
BERNINA Dealer Quilters Quest will also preview the new BERNINA Q 20 Longarm quilting machine
BERNINA of America, the premier manufacturer of sewing, embroidery and quilting machines, is pleased to announce that it has partnered with Sewtopia in Chicago to sponsor two quilting classes and provide 50 BERNINA 350 PE (B 350 PE) machines for the classes and afterhours sewing. In addition, BERNINA Dealer Quilters Quest of Woodridge, Ill. will preview the new BERNINA Q 20 Longarm quilting machine at Sewtopia. Sewtopia offers attendees a chance to cultivate their creative side by focusing on a variety of sewing projects and special challenges throughout the weekend. The event will take place Thursday, April 16 to Sunday, April 19 at The Drake Hotel, located at 140 E. Walton Place. The cost is $375, which includes classes. For more information, please visit https://gosewtopia.com/chicago/.
The two classes offered at Sewtopia will feature Latifah Saafir of the Quilt Engineer, who will teach attendees one of her new quilt patterns called “Molehills,” and Rita Hodge of Red Pepper Quilts, who will teach attendees how to make her Kansas Dugout Mini Quilt. In addition to demonstrating the BERNINA Q 20 Longarm quilting machine, representatives from Quilters Quest will also demonstrate new quilting and sewing techniques.
Other presentations include BERNINA Brand Ambassador Cheryl Sleboda, who is known for alternative uses of smocking and will showcase techniques from her latest DVD, Heirloom Sewing Techniques for Today’s Quilter. Quilter Catherine Redford will also demonstrate techniques from her DVD, Modern Machine Quilting: Straight Lines, Spirals, Serpentines, and More! Additionally, Tracy Mooney, an associate editor at Generation Q magazine, will demonstrate how easy it is to sew with kids by sewing with her young daughter.
The BERNINA Q 20 Longarm quilting machine is a sit-down model that is equipped with a throat space that is 20 inches wide and 11 inches high to better manage larger quilts. It comes standard with a number of innovative features, including a one-of-a-kind electronically controlled tension system, an intuitive color touchscreen interface, a unique threading path, and an integrated bobbin winder. The BERNINA Q 20 also uses a domestic sewing machine needle for error-free installation, giving the user a large selection of specialty needles for quilting and other applications. The new Q 20 will be available at authorized BERNINA Dealers nationwide later this year.
The BERNINA 350 PE (B 350 PE) features 191 total stitch patterns, a maximum sewing speed up to 900 stitches per minute, and a stitch width up to 5.5 mm. The B 350 PE also has a direct-selection function with a bright LCD screen that allows sewists to switch quickly between 18 utility stitches and 63 decorative stitches, including 11 quilting stitches. Additionally, a high-precision buttonhole function with two programmed buttonhole styles gives users the ability to sew buttonholes of the exact same length every time. There’s also enough memory space to permanently store up to 30 stitch-pattern combinations as well as a bright LED sewing light. For more information, visit www.bernina.com/3series.
