Will create kennel quilts and bandanas for homeless Humane Society of Tampa Bay pets

BERNINA of America, the premier manufacturer of sewing, embroidery and quilting machines, is pleased to announce that Keep Me in Stitches, a BERNINA Dealer with stores in Largo and Tampa, Fla., will host a two-day Sew-A-Thon on Thursday, December 3 and Friday, December 4 from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. to support the Humane Society of Tampa Bay. Anyone, regardless of skill set, is invited to participate in making kennel quilts and bandanas for homeless animals at any of the Dealer’s three locations. Participants who visit the Largo store will also have the opportunity to experience a soon-to-be launched 2016 BERNINA 350 Special Edition (SE) Best Friend (B 350 SE Best Friend) as part of BERNINA’s initiative to host Best Friend events at BERNINA Dealer locations, nationwide. To kick-off the celebration, Amy Gutierrez, Director of Marketing for BERNINA of America will visit Keep Me in Stitches to assist in making kennel quilts and answer questions about the new machine. The Largo store is located at 10459 Ulmerton Road. The Tampa stores are located at 4504 West Kennedy Blvd. and at 14833 North Dale Mabry Hwy. All supplies and machines are provided. Participants just need to come ready to sew, press, and cut. To register, send an email to mail@kmisinc.com and specify event date, time and store location.
“The 2016 BERNINA 350 SE Best Friend was designed with a mission in mind; to help animals in need through fun sewing and quilting events being held at BERNINA Dealer locations throughout the country,” said Amy Gutierrez, Director of Marketing for BERNINA of America. “BERNINA looks forward to introducing the new machine in early 2016 and will provide the PetFinder Foundation with a portion of sales to support the mission of housing homeless pets. We are thrilled to begin the festivities at Keep Me in Stitches, and will continue to host additional BERNINA Dealer events throughout 2016.
Additionally, the B 350 SE Best Friend sewing machine supports The Quilt Pattern Magazine (TQPM) Kennel Quilt cause, which began in 2012 as an effort to help animal shelters affected by Hurricane Sandy. The Kennel Quilt Team is a volunteer organization sponsored by TQPM that is available when disasters strike. BERNINA of America supports the TQPM Kennel Quilt cause by promoting kennel quilt sewing at BERNINA Dealers nationwide. To date, over 1,500 Kennel Quilts have been distributed to shelters in 12 states. For more information, visit
