Special Guest, Dom Streater, Project Runway All Stars Designer; Ticket Proceeds go to North Plainfield Memorial Library

Project Runway All Stars Designer, Dom Streater and winner of Project Runway Season 12, is the special guest who will be attending the event to support young designers. Kids from elementary to high school, ages 12 to 18 participated in a design challenge, where they picked a fairy tale for their design inspiration and will present them on the runway at the event. Three judges Linda O’Shea, Professor and Interior Design Program Coordinator at Robert Busch School of Design at Kean University, Brielle McCormick, former Project Fabricland winner and Assistant Designer for Women’s Bags at COACH™, and George Diaz, custom dressmaker, will evaluate student garments and award top winners by age group. A total of 23 students will receive a special award. Judges will score the students on inspiration, overall appearance, quality of sewing, fit, use of fabrics and trims, and the design of their inspiration board. All designer inspiration boards will be displayed at the entrance for family and friends to enjoy. Tickets are $8 in advance and $12 at the door. And, we are pleased to announce that Dom Streater will be this year’s special guest. She will meet, talk fashion, take photos with the student designers and give out the BERNINA prize bags. We award first, second, third place winners and an honorable mention for each age group along with best sewing, best accessory, and best inspiration board,” said Nancy Plominski, Education Coordinator at Fabricland. “Come see the students show off their designs on the runway.”

Dom Streater is an American fashion and surface designer, who after winning season 12 of the Emmy award winning television series, Project Runway, quickly made her sartorial mark on the industry with her use of graphic prints based on her paintings. Dom focuses on creating “Made in America” pieces that explore the use of textile and surface design, as well as minimalist garment silhouettes.
Dom has received an official proclamation from the mayor of Philadelphia, been named one of Nicole Millers "Most Fashionable Women of Philadelphia," and has been featured in numerous magazines, including Marie Claire, Essence and Jet.
