The first cool days are slow in arriving. For now, we savour the last warm rays of sunshine before the cold winter. Just the right time for light capes and jackets, several examples of which you’ll find in this issue of Inspiration. There’s something for everyone here – quite simple models, or a somewhat more complicated biker-style jacket for experts.
But autumn is also a time for snuggling down. We enjoy staying at home, warming ourselves by the fire or another heat source, steaming mug of tea or cocoa in hand. We look for something comfortable to wear, but smart at the same time – after all, you never know what might arrive out of the blue! In terms of comfy but chic, we have just the thing. And since one’s surroundings can always use a bit of beautifying, we’ve naturally got the odd home-dec project for you as well. What would you say to mushroom slippers? Never heard of them before? We find these rustic toadstools quite decorative, and are sure you’ll find a spare spot for one or more, whether as doorstops or pocket decorations.
Although the summer parties are over, there are also festivities in autumn – one of which nowadays arouses worldwide interest. Native to Munich, the Oktoberfest celebrated its 200th anniversary back in 2010. “Wiesn-look” accessories have even become super-trendy, perfectly suitable for everyday wear as well as desperately cute. Have a look at page 14 and see for yourself!
Far from living on some distant planet, Inspiration stays in frequent touch with its readers – the only way to steadily improve the magazine. In addition to always being represented on the BERNINA (German-language) Blog, with the voting on the forthcoming issue’s models, we are also always involved in person in the Creative Days held here at our Steckborn premises every autumn. From your emails and in personal conversations we learn what you, our readers, want, and are delighted to take up the recurring suggestions in Inspiration magazine. In this issue and in future ones, therefore, we’ll be offering you the “extra” of an extended size range for suitable models.
Right at the forefront here are our cape and simple jacket. We’re also convinced, though, that in the case of our skirt and our “home” theme, one more size offers a good fit for our readers.
You are also welcome to email us your suggestions and requests outside of these occasions: redaktion@BERNINA.com.
Wishing you hours of enjoyment browsing and sewing,
Your Editorial Team and Claudia Giesser, Editor-in-Chief
