1. Place two layers of water soluble stabilizer in the round embroidery hoop.
Retrace the flower petal design from the paper onto the stabilizer five times, using the marker pen.
Choose your threads and wind a bobbin of each.

2. Using your BERNINA BSR make the first stabilizing layer for each petal: Go around the contours at least 3 times, and then create a dense underlayer using horizontal and vertical lines. The ends of the lines should go over the contour stitch and “grab onto” it.
Go over the petal shape as densely as possible with the same color as you used for the under layer.
Do this with all 5 petals.

3. Using a filling stitch, go over the middle of the petal again with a darker shade, but make this layer a lot less dense so that the lighter color shows through from underneath. Continue doing the above using your other shades.
Shade the contour stitch with a lighter tone.

4. Cut out the petals. There is no need to be very accurate yet, just a rough cut will do.
Pour hot water into a bowl. Put the petals in. The stabilizer will dissolve much faster in hot water.
Wait 5-10 minutes for the stabilizer to completely dissolve, then rinse the petals under warm running water. Take the excess water out of the petals using a soft towel and wait until they dry completely.

5. Make strips out of different kinds of fabrics. Secure the fabric strips with strong thread and wire. Wrap it around several times for a bit of extra hold.
Sew the petals onto the necklace base to form a flower. Attach a small ball of decorative wool to the middle so that it covers the seams. Decorate with beads and proudly flaunt the finished piece!
