Steph’s Appliqué Advent Calendar Project

Our talented sewing expert Steph counts down the days to Christmas with this adorable appliqué advent calendar. She will show you how to make your own to get your home looking festive! String the calendar on the wall or even hang the pockets on the tree so they double up as decorations. The clear Appliqué Foot #23 is great for narrow satin stitches and gives you the perfect view of what you're sewing. Christmas isn't far away now so let's get sewing...merry stitchmas everyone!

You will need:

• Bernina sewing machine - Steph's currently using the latest 570QE
• Bernina Appliqué Foot #23
• Optional feet (these are essential feet for any keen sewer as they give you great precision, yet you can use your Zigzag Foot #1 if you haven’t got them)​:
• - Edge Stitch Foot #10, #10C, #10D *
• - Bernina Patchwork Foot - #37, #37D, #57, #57D, #97, #97D *
• Cut 25 pocket templates out of your chosen backing fabric
• Fabric for the appliqué - this can be all the same fabric or any christmas scraps that you’ve collected over the years
• Stabiliser
• Bondaweb
• Thread to match
• Twine, string or ribbon to hang
• Christmas pegs (these can always be found in craft shops)
• Scissors
• Cutting Mat
• Rotary Cutter
• Iron
• Printer - to print template, can create your own from measurements
• Pen / pencil
• Pins / quilters clips
