Supporting BERNINA features

It is important to us that BERNINA customers are empowered, can be independent, and can fully enjoy their creative hobby. Below are some BERNINA products and features that make sewing, embroidery and quilting easier and accessible.

Features and functions that help your mobility

Start/stop button

Start/stop button

Modern BERNINA Machines now feature a direct-selection button to start or stop the machine. This makes it possible to sew without the use of legs. The button is located very handy in the sewing area near the needle.

Slide speed control

Together with the start stop button, the slide speed control can be used not only to regulate the speed while sewing but also to set the maximum and minimum speed. Move the slide either to left or right to reduce or increase the speed.

Multi-function knobs – </br> large and comfortable

large and comfortable

Rather than having to use buttons, you can simply use the large multi-function knobs. For instance, to adjust the length and width of the stitch or to rotate and position the design in the embroidery area.

Large sewing space and extended freearm

Large sewing space and extended freearm

BERNINA machines feature a sturdily constructed extended freearm that leaves plenty of room to the right of the needle for large sewing projects. Closed, tubular sewing projects such as trousers or T-shirts are easy to sew or embroider thanks to the freearm.

Color touch screen and easy-to-use buttons

You can easily find all stitches and functions on the centrally located color touch screen. The large icons are grouped intuitively and allow you to navigate quickly, and the high sensitivity of the touch screen makes operation particularly user-friendly.

Large & non-slip foot control

Large & non-slip foot control

The BERNINA foot control is perfectly designed as it is large and sturdy. Most of the foot controls of current BERNINA machines include a back-kick function that lets you raise or lower the needle, secure and cut threads or raise the presser foot.

If you cannot use your legs, the foot control can even be used with your hands. Or how about sewing standing up? This is possible thanks to the long cable of the foot control.

Needle threader

Needle threader

Needle threading is a breeze for needles between size 70 and 110. The semi-automatic threader makes threading easier than ever. A few simple steps, and the thread is in place.

Knee lifter/Free-Hand System (FHS)

Knee lifter/Free-Hand System (FHS)

The Knee lifter/Free-Hand System (FHS) allows you to raise or lower the presser foot and feed dog with your knee while keeping both hands on the fabric. This useful tool makes it easy to work with thin, delicate fabrics that require extra care in handling or extra heavy fabrics that require both your hands to stay in place.

DC Motor for regulated speed control

DC Motor for regulated speed control

In contrast to AC Motors (Alternating Current), the DC, or Direct Current, Motor offers the key advantage of strong power at low speed, as the electronics can govern power delivery to the motor at any speed.

The machine maintains the selected speed and comes to a stop even faster. Moreover, thanks to the electronic speed control of the DC Motor, you can sew one stitch at a time.
