How do 'Reverse Sewing' and 'Backstepping' differ exactly?

'Reverse sewing' - continuously - is activated by the 'Stitch Altering Area' on the screen.'Backstepping' is activated by pressing the 'Quick Reverse/Backstepping button' on the head frame or by the 'Stitch Altering Area' on the screen.
