With the BERNINA Free Hand System (FHS), you can easily raise and lower the presser foot using the knee lever while simultaneously lowering the feed dog, allowing you to easily position and remove your sewing project. In addition, the presser foot can be swung out to the side for convenient access to the needles. Thanks to the 2-step presser foot lifter, even thick or multi-layered projects can be positioned effortlessly and precisely.

Control your L 620 exactly as you wish: With the BERNINA foot control, you can sew precisely stitch by stitch, and the back-kick function lets you raise or lower the needle with ease. The sewing speed can be easily adjusted either with BERNINA's precise foot control or by default through the newly integrated sewing speed slider right in front of you. The dimmable sewing light creates the perfect atmosphere for precise work. Thanks to the powerful DC motor, you maintain perfect control at all times.

Differential feed

Sew stretchy 3- and 4-thread cover stitches for perfect hems, edging, and decorative accents – also ideal for athletic wear, lace, or elastic bands. The 2-thread chain stitch is excellent for joining, topstitching, appliquéing, or basting woven and slightly stretchy fabrics. Thanks to the differential feed, you can always achieve smooth seams or fine gathers exactly as desired.

Coverstitch Width Wide coverstitch is suitable for hems in medium to heavy weight knitwear, for high stretch fabrics and for topstitching. Narrow coverstitch is ideal for topstitching fine knitwear and light weight fabrics.
One-step BERNINA Air Threader (for looper threads) illuminated
One-step BERNINA Air Threader (for looper threads) illuminated Threads the looper threads automatically. While the air threader is activated, a threader light indicates the operating status. The One-Step BERNINA air threader is operated with the BERNINA foot control, leaving both hands free to position the thread over the threader nozzles.
Built-in Needle Threader
Built-in Needle Threader The Built-in Needle Threader located at the needle bar area easily switches to thread the needles.
Color-coded One-path Threading
Color-coded One-path Threading The thread follows one defined path for each stitch. The threading paths are always the same, and color coded.
BERNINA Free Hand System (FHS) with Feed Dog Drop
BERNINA Free Hand System (FHS) with Knee Lifter with Feed Dog Drop Use the knee lever to lower or temporarily raise the presser foot so that both hands remain free to guide the sewing project precisely. When the presser foot is raised, the feed dog automatically lowers, creating additional space under the presser foot.
Needle Stop Up/Down Programmable
Needle Stop Up/Down Programmable Needle Stop Up/Down, programmable via Touch Screen. For each sewing project, program the suitable stop, either to stabilize the project under the foot or to easily remove it.
Swing-out Presser Foot with Auto Swing Back
Swing-out Presser Foot with Auto Swing Back The Presser Foot swings to the left, providing ample space for easy threading, comfortable needle changing and to easily lay the threads under the Presser Foot. When lowering the presser foot with the hand lifter it swings automatically back.
Speed Control
Speed Control Sewing top speed can be reduced via the Speed Selection Slider to accommodate sewing projects that require slower but even sewing speed.
Sewing Light Switch/Dimmer
Sewing Light Switch/Dimmer The Sewing Light can be switched on/off and dimmed. By default the sewing light is turned on.

4-Thread Coverstitch 4-Thread Coverstitch is a durable and flat stitch for hems and also ideal for top-stitching or flat joining seams, for example with elastic or elastic lace. The 4-Thread Coverstitch can be used for decorative seams or hems when combined with decorative thread in needles or looper, right or wrong side showing. Suitable for sweaters, t-shirts, sportswear, swimwear, lingerie, apparel or decorative projects and home textiles.
3-Thread Coverstitch Wide (LC-RC)	3
3-Thread Coverstitch Wide (LC-RC) Perfect flat hem for all stretchy fabrics, ideal for topstitching, finishing with elastic, binding edges or for decorative seams within fabric. Ideal for apparel from stretchy fabrics, i.e. sportswear, swimwear, lingerie, sweaters and t-shirts, apparel, but also for embellishing textiles. Suitable for medium to heavy weight fabric.
2-Thread Chainstitch (RC)	3
2-Thread Chainstitch (RC) The 2-Thread Chainstitch is a durable seam with limited elasticity. It is ideal to stabilize seams, for topstitching and binding. It can be easily undone when used for temporary basting. Suitable for medium to heavy weight woven and knitted fabrics, such a denim, corduroy and toweling, for apparel and home textiles. Use decorative threads in the looper to achieve decorative hemming and topstitching along an edge or within the project piece.

Motor The DC Motor with BERNINA Foot Control enables slow and steady sewing, even Stitch-by-Stitch sewing or half stitch sewing (needle up/down). The AC motor is the industry standard and allows continously variable sewing speed with the Foot Control.
