Festival of Quilts 2018
Bernina has announced a line-up of world-renowned quilters who will be providing free demonstrations on its stand at next month’s Festival of Quilts at the NEC, Birmingham.
Demonstrations will take place on the Bernina stand each day at 11.30am and 2.30pm. For those unable to attend in person, most demonstrations will be streamed live!
Delivering demonstrations will be leading American long-arm quilter Lisa Calle; award winning quilter and textile artist Philippa Naylor; award-winning free-hand long-arm quilter Barbara Persing will be focusing on Glue basted Raw Edge Appliqué on the Q24 long arm machine. In the afternoon UK quilter and stitched textile artist Janice Gunner offers a free machining miscellany on the Q20 sit-down long-arm machine featuring some of her favourite free machine designs.
Alicia Merrett, who exhibits widely in the UK and abroad, will be first to demonstrate on Saturday morning, taking stand visitors through improvisational strip piecing on the 770QE machine. In the afternoon long-arm Quilting expert Linzi Upton will be talking visitors through free-style whole cloth long-arm quilting on the Q24 machine.
On the final day of Festival of Quilts, Sunday 12th August, professional quilter and Bernina long-arm expert Aggy Burczyk will show visitors how to use the Bernina Q long-arm machine and Q-matic for grand format appliqué. Philippa Naylor will close the programme on Sunday afternoon with a repeat of her Great corners and perfect circles session from earlier in the week.
