Quilting Tales - Jane Varrall

Welcome to Quilting Tales brought to you by Bernina UK.

This is our latest instalment in our continuing series of video interviews with quilters who would like to tell their story and share their passion.

Explore the story behind Jane Varrall's quilt, "Journey to Alpha Centauri". This fascinating and thoughtful quilt is about a journey into space with inspiration taken from Stephen Hawking. Jane was enthralled by the modules that he was designing and sending into the atmosphere – with the shape of them particularly capturing her imagination. The quilt itself is silk painted using steam-fix dyes which she has embellished on top. These embellishments include printed modules of the Stephen Hawking machines which incredibly open up from the quilt to show information he is gathering in space...we hope you enjoy Jane’s tale.
