BERNINA TO HOST TWO-DAY HEIRLOOM BEGINNINGS RETREAT SEPTEMBER 11 – 12 AT THE BERNINA CREATIVE CENTER IN AURORA ILLINOIS

Registration is taking place now

BERNINA of America, the premier manufacturer of sewing, embroidery and quilting machines, is pleased to announce that it is accepting registration for a two-day retreat called Heirloom Beginnings taking place at the BERNINA Creative Center in Aurora, Ill. Attendees will learn the basics of heirloom sewing using a sewing machine and manufactured trims to replicate the needlework of French hand sewing from the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. The retreat will be held Thursday, September 11 from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Friday, September 12 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
 
Attendees will learn how to sew lace-to-lace, lace-to-entredeux and entredeux-to-fabric. Basic techniques using the overlocker/serger and embroidery machine will also be taught while each attendee makes an heirloom baby bonnet and smocked pillow. The cost is $299 and includes kit supplies, a CD of instructional materials, BERNINA store shopping opportunities, use of the BERNINA 880 machine, along with lunch and snacks each day. The 4,500-square-foot BERNINA Creative Center, located at 3682 Unit B Prairie Lake Court, next to the BERNINA of America headquarters, opened in 2013. The Center consists of three rooms with enough space to hold up to 50 attendees and BERNINA machines. Events at the Center are designed to help consumers and BERNINA Dealers advance their sewing, quilting and embroidering skills.
